What is AHA!?

AHA! is dedicated to the development of character, imagination, emotional intelligence, and social conscience in teenagers. Through an innovative curriculum focusing on self-expression, team-building, empathy training, emotional intelligence, and diversity appreciation, AHA! helps teens learn to set goals, stop bullying and hatred, support their peers, and serve their community.

The curriculum is delivered through a multicultural lens that honors and celebrates our commonalities and differences. Facilitators participate with the teens in lessons and exercises that enhance both group trust and cross-generational alliances.

AHA! serves teens and families all year round. There are after-school programs in Santa Barbara and Carpinteria, a summer program located in Santa Barbara, and in-school programs in Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, and Goleta. There is also an outdoor program throughout the year and a satellite program in Los Angeles. ALL PROGRAMS ARE FUNDED BY DONATIONS. Please go to classes and events.

  • "For once in my 30 years of teaching I felt I truly was learning as much as I was teaching, and I know from comments volunteered by the students, that the students found themselves in a new role of their own: They too were teaching and sharing as a fundamental part of the class; they saw that we were all learning together." - Alex C., Classroom Teacher
